His Excellency Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, visited MIOT International, Chennai, during his official visit to India. The visit marked another significant milestone in the longstanding healthcare collaboration between Zanzibar and MIOT International, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing medical excellence, specialist training, and improved patient care.

His Excellency was warmly received by Mrs. Mallika Mohandas, Chairman, MIOT International, along with the senior leadership team of the hospital.

Interaction with Patients from Zanzibar

During his visit, His Excellency met patients from Zanzibar who are currently undergoing treatment at MIOT International. He interacted personally with the patients and their families, enquiring about their treatment experience and recovery.

The medical team briefed His Excellency on the patients’ clinical progress, treatment plans, and the specialised care being provided across various disciplines. A key highlight of the visit was His Excellency’s interaction with Zanzibari doctors currently undergoing advanced clinical training at MIOT International under the Samia Health Super-Specialization Scholarship Programme.

The programme enables doctors from Zanzibar to receive structured super-specialty training alongside experienced specialists at MIOT International, helping strengthen healthcare capacity within Zanzibar through advanced medical education, clinical exposure, and knowledge exchange. His Excellency encouraged the doctors in their pursuit of advanced medical expertise and acknowledged the importance of investing in specialist training to improve healthcare services for future generations.
