Nutrition and Weight-loss Clinic
Today’s lifestyles and largely unhealthy diets have resulted in an increase in overweight and obese adults and children. The WHO reports that obesity has reached epidemic levels globally, with over 1.4 billion overweight or obese adults in 2008. The Nutrition and Weight-loss Clinic at MIOT International is a programme to help overweight patients lose the weight and adopt a healthier diet.
Personalised Diet Programmes
MIOT’s nutritionists counsel patients and provide them with personalised diet programmes based on their lifestyles, food preferences and health concerns such as diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, gout etc. The diet chart is an elaborate diet routine that is modified every month. Patients lose between 2 to 4 kilograms of weight per month, and an average of 10 to 15 kilograms in about three to four months, depending on how committed they are to the programme.
This programme is especially helpful for people who are not in good enough health for an exercise regime (such as those with knee problems, spine problems etc.) At the end of the programme, patients are also counselled on how they can maintain a healthy weight through their diet. Besides weight loss, such a programme also helps to control blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
Our specialists work with bariatric surgeons to chart out pre- and post-surgery diets for patients who require bariatric surgery. The Nutrition and Weight-loss Clinic also offers diet recommendations to gain weight, keep diabetes in check and control high cholesterol, gout and more.
