Thoracic and Cardiovascular Care

LVAD (Left ventricular assist device)

In certain stages of heart failure, medications alone cannot sustain good hemodynamic condition. The need for mechanical support to the heart then becomes crucial. Most of the mechanical support devices used are usually temporary, to tide over a crisis, but there are also condition where it may be the only option for long term treatment. Temporary VADs give the surgeon and his team time to assess the grade of heart failure, while also looking for option of heart transplant for these patients.

Depending on the time period of support, MIOT has facilities to take care of such patients, not only with specific machines but also with a team of critical care specialists.
