    CHENNAI: Kannada film thespian Rajkumar, whose arthritis problem was compounded when he was forced to walk in the hills for more than three months by the forest brigand Veerappan, will undergo a “total hip replacement” surgery at a city hospital on Thursday. The hospital said the 74-year-old film actor had “difficulty in walking” because of severe arthritis of the left side of the hip and right knee. Rajkumar arrived hereon Wednesday. -PTI

    CHENNAI, MARCH 13. Veteran Kannada actor Rajkumar underwent a total hip replacement on the left side early today.

    A press release from the MIOT hospital, where he has been admitted, said the operation lasted an hour and the actor was comfortable.

    Later in the evening, he was made to walk around his bed.

    Surgeons have decided to operate on his knee for a total knee replacement on March 15 or 17.

    CHENNAI, MARCH 24. A total knee replacement operation was performed successfully on the Kannada actor Rajkumar early Monday morning, according to a MlOT Hospital bulletin.

    The surgery, which started at 5-30 a.m. and went on for more than an hour, was performed by a team of surgeons led by P.V.A. Mohandas.

    A ‘Mobile Bearing Knee’ that was used on Rajkumar, permits rotatory movements of the knee, allowing the patient to continue with his yoga routine.

    The actor is convalescing in the intensive care unit of the post-operative ward and his vital parameters are stated to be normal.

    He will be shifted to his room on March 26.

    He had earlier undergone a hip replacement surgery at the hospital on March 13.

    Rajkumar to be discharged tomorrow

    CHENNAI, APRIL 10. Kannada matinee idol, Rajkumar, who was admitted to MI0T Hospitals, Chennai, a fortnight ago for left hip joint and right knee joint replacement would be discharged from the hospital on April 12 (Saturday) at 3 p.m., s the Director of the hospital, P.V.A Mohandas, said today.
