Global CEO of Aspen Medical Group, Mr. Craig Fitzgerald. Since 2022, Aspen Medical and MIOT International have been reshaping access to world-class cardiac care in Fiji through their collaboration with Lautoka Hospital. A dedicated 35-member MIOT team has carried out more than 300+ open-heart procedures and angiograms, touching the lives of over 500 Fijians. These outcomes have been supported by Aspen’s investment in a Philips Cath Lab, advanced operating theatres, and specialised ICUs. Since May 2025, 190 angiograms have already been performed locally, reducing the burden of overseas treatment. Globally, MIOT is recognised for innovations in robotic surgery, endovascular oncology interventions, and rehabilitation centres in India, Mauritius, and the Maldives. Looking ahead, the partnership aims to expand minimally invasive cardiac procedures, advanced heart valve repairs, and more complex interventions, train local specialists, and introduce daycare services in Nadi through MIOT Pacific Medical, offering dentistry, ophthalmology, and ENT along with endovascular interventions in urology, gynaecology, orthopaedics, and eventually cardiology at Nasole, Suva, positioning Lautoka Hospital as the Pacific’s premier cardiothoracic centre. This collaboration is a promise that no one in Fiji or the Pacific should have to leave their home to access life-saving cardiac and specialist care.
