CHIME’s ‘Beat of Life’ Grand Reunion. Celebrating strong hearts, shared stories, and unwavering strength
At MIOT International, we believe every child deserves a rhythm to their life, a steady, hopeful beat. Through CHIME (Children’s Heart Internationale MIOT), this belief has been transformed into action, compassion, and life-saving care for children born with congenital heart disease.
The “Beat of Life” Grand Reunion, organised by MIOT International on 24 January 2026, was conceived as more than an event; it was a celebration of survival, gratitude, and renewed commitment. It brought together children whose lives were once defined by fragile heartbeats, their resilient families, the doctors who stood by them, and the donors whose generosity made healing possible.
Over the last 18 years, CHIME has transformed the lives of 1,300 children, many of whom have grown into confident teenagers and accomplished adults. The reunion brought these young survivors back together with the medical teams who once stood beside them during their most critical moments of care. It honoured parents who displayed extraordinary courage through the most uncertain phases of their children’s journeys and recognised the donors and sponsors whose compassion removed financial barriers to life-saving cardiac treatment. Above all, the gathering reaffirmed CHIME’s enduring mission to ensure that no child is ever denied access to expert heart care due to lack of means.
A total of 73 beneficiaries across various age groups, along with 149 family members, CSR partners, charitable donors, and individual donors, graced the occasion, contributing to its memorable success.
A Joyful Beginning
The reunion opened on a light-hearted and celebratory note with a magic show specially curated for the children. More than just a performance, it became a moment of pure joy filling the room with laughter, applause, and eager participation. Seeing the children smile freely, laugh wholeheartedly, and immerse themselves in wonder was a powerful reminder of how far they had come. Those happy faces set the tone for a day that celebrated life, courage, healing, and childhood beautifully reclaimed.

Honouring the Journey of Healing
The gathering reflected on CHIME’s remarkable impact from tiny infants once fighting for survival, to young adults today achieving new milestones in education, careers, and life. Each story stood as proof that timely care, expertise, and compassion have the power to change destinies.
The audience was addressed by Dr. Robert Coelho, Director and Chief Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon at the MIOT Centre for Children’s Cardiac Care. With over 30 years of experience, his words reflected the dedication, precision, and teamwork behind every successful surgery and the countless lives restored to health.

A Visual Journey of Hope
A special video presentation showcased CHIME’s journey through moving patient stories and heartfelt testimonials. These were not statistics, but real children, real families, and real second chances. Each heartbeat on screen echoed courage, resilience, and hope.
The True Heroes Take the Stage
In one of the most powerful and deeply moving moments of the Grand Reunion, former CHIME patients our brave hearts were invited onto the stage in the presence of Mrs. Mallika Mohandas, Chairman, MIOT International; Dr. Prithvi Mohandas, Managing Director, MIOT International; Dr. Robert Coelho; Dr. Saileela R., Interventional Paediatric Cardiologist; and Dr. Harapriya, Paediatric Cardiologist. As the children walked forward, the atmosphere in the room shifted to one of quiet anticipation. Each child wore a mask symbolising the fear, pain, and uncertainty they had once lived through a silent reminder of the fragile days when every heartbeat mattered and the future felt unsure.
As soft music filled the hall, the moment unfolded with gentle grace. One by one, the children slowly removed their masks. In that simple yet profound gesture, the past gave way to the present. What emerged were radiant, confident smiles that spoke of healing, resilience, and second chances. The room filled with emotion as parents, doctors, and donors witnessed not just recovery, but transformation.

Standing tall and full of life, these children became living symbols of hope. Their unveiled faces told stories of courage, expert care, and compassionate giving reminding everyone present that when commitment meets compassion, even the most fragile hearts can grow strong and beat with joy.
The Story Behind CHIME
Chairman Mrs. Mallika Mohandas shared the vision that inspired the birth of CHIME, a promise to ensure that expert paediatric cardiac care reaches every child in need, regardless of financial circumstance. Her address reaffirmed the values that continue to guide this life-saving initiative.

Honouring the Donors & Sponsors
A dedicated segment of the event was reserved to felicitate the donors and sponsors of the quiet heroes behind every life saved through CHIME. Many of these supporters have stood by the initiative for decades, extending their generosity year after year and making sustained, life-saving care possible for children who would otherwise have had no access to expert cardiac treatment. Their unwavering commitment has empowered CHIME’s medical teams to transform despair into hope for thousands of families across the years.
In a deeply respectful and heartfelt moment, each donor was honoured on stage by Mrs. Mallika Mohandas, Chairman, MIOT International, acknowledging not just their financial support, but their long-standing belief in CHIME’s mission. As applause filled the hall, the moment served as a powerful reminder that behind every healed heart lies a donor’s compassion, and behind every smiling child is a promise kept.
