Bariatric Surgery

Surgeons at MIOT perform one of three laparoscopic bariatric surgical procedures to achieve the weight loss, based on the patient’s medical history and health condition.

In Laparoscopic Gastric Banding, an adjustable gastric band is placed around the upper-third portion of the stomach to create a pouch that limits food intake.

The size of the stomach is reduced by surgically removing a part of it in a Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy.

In Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, considered the gold standard for bariatric surgery, surgeons create a small stomach pouch using staples. The first segment of the small intestine is then ‘bypassed’ and the rest is joined to the opening, giving the stomach less time to absorb fats from food.

Nephrology

The MIOT Institute of Nephrology provides comprehensive care for kidney disease, led by one of India's top nephrologists. As one of the largest and most modern nephrology units in the country, it offers end-to-end treatment for various kidney ailments, including general nephrology, dialysis, and kidney transplants, including innovative procedures for kidney transplants across blood groups, in collaboration with Tokyo Women’s University. Kidney Transplant

MIOT International’s Institute of heart-transplant is one of India’s largest kidney transplant centers, offering living and deceased donor transplants for adults and children. With over 587 ansplants completed, we specialize in Kidney Transplant across Blood Groups to address the shortage of donor organs. This innovative program allows transplants from donors with different blood types, reducing wait times. In collaboration with Tokyo Women’s University, leaders in this field, MIOT has successfully performed several cross-blood group transplants with international success rates.

Our approach uses desensitization techniques to lower antibody levels, enabling transplants from any blood group. Advanced imaging, specialized immunology services, and a full Hematology department support our multidisciplinary efforts, ensuring top-tier results. Heart Transplant

Heart failure is a growing global health issue, driven by changing lifestyles and diets. MIOT International has become a recognized center for heart transplants, using advanced surgical techniques with success rates on par with global standards.

A heart transplant, lasting about four hours, involves implanting a healthy donor heart into a patient with heart failure. Recovery typically ranges from 7 to 15 days, followed by 90 days of monitoring. MIOT’s specialized cardiac team provides comprehensive care throughout the process, supported by advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies.

Despite rising healthcare costs, MIOT remains committed to offering affordable heart transplants. Insurance may cover some costs, and our team assists with navigating options. Heart transplants offer a vital solution for severe heart failure, with MIOT providing cutting-edge care and support throughout the recovery journey.

Bone Marrow Transplant

Bone marrow transplant is done for patients with malignant conditions such as acute and chronic leukaemia, lymphomas, myelomas and certain solid tumours, as well as non malignant conditions like aplastic anaemia, thalassaemia, sickle cell disease, auto immune disorders and some immune-deficiencies.

Globally bone marrow transplants require donors with 100% matching stem cells. The chances of finding this perfect match are 1 in a million. There are very few centres that offer the cutting edge Haplo-identical Bone Marrow Transplant, which is done with donor cells that are no less than a 50% match to the recipient’s cells.

The first ever Haplo-identical Bone Marrow Transplant in India was performed at MIOT nternational. The team also performs autologous, allogeneic and umbilical cord bone marrow transplants. MIOT’s sophisticated facilities, which include dedicated HEPA filtered wards and state-of-the-art transfusion medicine and laboratory facilities, have ensured a success rate on par with international standards in this speciality.
