Dr. Claire Arthur graduated from the University of Dundee, Scotland (MBChB) in 2004, gained fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR), UK, in 2012 & was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at The Christie, Manchester, in 2014. Dr Arthur specialises in colorectal and thyroid cancer, with previous experience of leading an acute oncology team and involvement in regional Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression (MSCC) pathways.
Dr. Arthur has a particular interest in organ preservation for rectal cancer and is actively engaged in UK trials – as a Principal Investigator and Trial Management Group (TMG) member – investigating radiotherapy dose escalation and Total Neoadjuvant Therapy for early and locally advanced rectal cancers. In addition, she contributed to UK IMRT guidance for rectal cancer (RCR) and engages with the UK Radiotherapy Trials Quality Assurance (RTTQA) group to ensure quality delivery of radiotherapy within clinical trials.
In addition to treating patients with rectal cancer, Dr. Arthur also delivers thyroid oncology care for patients referred across the North-West of England. She is responsible for overseeing the delivery of radioiodine to patients with localised and metastatic differentiated thyroid cancer in addition to targeted systemic therapies for radioiodine refractory differentiated thyroid cancer and anaplastic disease.
